Aims and Scope

Main Purpose and Vision of the Journal:

Promoting the advancement of theoretical knowledge in the field of urban design and enhancing the quality of the built environment, with a special emphasis on recognizing and articulating indigenous and contextual foundations, strengthening the Iranian–Islamic spatial identity, and developing models tailored to the cultural, historical, social, and climatic conditions of Iran for the design of urban public spaces.

Other objectives of the journal include:

  • Formulating and advancing indigenous and contextual theoretical foundations and models of urban design derived from the culture, history, and Iranian-Islamic values, with the aim of enhancing national identity and improving the quality of urban public spaces in accordance with the country’s social and climatic conditions.

  • Facilitating the process of publishing, supporting, and disseminating well-founded, up-to-date, and reliable scientific research results with credible and original sources in the fields related to urban design studies and the analysis of public urban spaces.
  • Establishing a common ground and language between the academic community and governmental, private, and public institutions in urban design, architecture, and urban planning, with an emphasis on improving the quality of public spaces in Iran and enhancing the Iranian-Islamic identity.
  • Collaborating with prominent global, national, and regional institutions and universities to publish scientific research in urban design and the enhancement of public urban space quality.
