About the Journal

The "Iranian Urban Design Studies" is published based on authorization letter No. 14033/10/4370 dated 06/19/2024 from the Vice Chancellor for Research at Shiraz University, with approval and licensing from the Shiraz University Research Council, in collaboration with the Iranian Scientific Association of Architecture and Urbanism.

This journal is published under Publication License No. 100423, issued by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and is published in 2026 in collaboration with the Research Center of the Shiraz Islamic City Council and Shiraz Municipality.

This journal, according to letter No. 21636-1403 dated 2025/09/17  from the Commission of Scientific Journals of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, has been granted “Scientific” status starting from Volume 1, Issue 1 (April 2024). Moreover, in the  2024–2025 evaluation, it has been awarded Grade “B”.

In addition, the Iranian Urban Design Studies journal, based on letter No. 1404/4430 dated 17/10/2025 from the esteemed Research Deputy of the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC), has been successfully included in the preliminary list of ISC-indexed journals starting from Volume 1, Issue 1, and is now indexed in this citation database.

Fields of Article Submission

The "Iranian Urban Design Studies" accepts original research and review articles in the following fields:

- Theoretical, practical, and applied studies in the field of urban design knowledge in Iran, emphasizing the enhancement of Iranian-Islamic identity
- Evaluation of environmental quality and analysis of urban spaces in urban design
- The relationship between the quality of urban public spaces and the safety, security, health, functionality, identity, efficiency, comfort, and ease for users of these public spaces
- Physical identity and Iranian-Islamic urban design
- Urban livability in terms of citizen behavior, land use and activity, transportation, and urban facilities
- The interactive effects of environmental conditions and quality, environmental pollution, and climate change on the quality of life and satisfaction of citizens in public urban spaces
- Evaluation of environmental, visual, cultural, and social effects on the quality of public urban spaces
- Urban regeneration, urban aesthetics, environmental perception and psychology, urban landscape, resilience, and environmental sustainability in public urban spaces
