Guidelines for Writing Articles for the "Iranian Urban Design Studies"
- The article’s topic should align with the field of urban design.
- The article must be based on the author(s)' original research and must not have been previously published in any domestic or international journal.
- The article should be no more than 8,000 words in total.
- The writing should be clear, fluent, grammatically correct, and carefully worded.
- When writing in Persian, use Persian equivalents for Latin terms wherever possible; if an adequate equivalent is unavailable, the original Latin term can be included in a footnote.
- Articles should be typed in Word software with margins set to 2.5 cm for the top, bottom, and left, and 3 cm for the right, with single line spacing.
Submitted articles must contain the following sections:
- First Section (in both Persian and English): Complete title, full name(s) of author(s) (with the corresponding author marked with an asterisk), academic rank, field, institution, and full contact details for all authors, including postal address, phone number (both mobile and landline), and email. If the article is derived from a research project or dissertation, the project or dissertation title should also appear on the first page (to be uploaded as a separate file during submission; the main manuscript file must exclude author names).
- Second Section (without author details): Abstract, highlights, and keywords in both Persian and English.
- Persian abstract (maximum 300 words) and keywords (3-5 words).
- Highlights aim to present the paper's significant contributions in advancing relevant scientific knowledge, summarized in two to three brief sentences.
- From the second page onward to the article's end (main body): Headings and subheadings should be numbered from right to left.
- The article should include the following sections:
- Introduction: Statement of the research problem, objectives, and research necessity.
- Literature Review and Theoretical Background: Key conceptual definitions, previous domestic and international research findings that support the hypotheses and conceptual framework; presentation of the conceptual framework/hypotheses with adequate explanation and evidence.
- Methodology and Study Area: Research design, data collection methods, validity and reliability of tools (report separate reliability coefficients for all latent variables based on the final sample), data analysis methods (particularly if using an uncommon or new method), sample population, sample size, and sampling method.
- Findings:
- For quantitative articles: Summary of demographic characteristics of the sample (tables and charts should be in an appendix for reviewers); a concise explanation of statistical analysis results with minimal tables; primary software outputs should be provided as images for verification.
- For review articles: Presentation of findings from reviewed studies in text form, as well as in tables, charts, or images if necessary.
- For qualitative articles: Descriptive analysis of findings in text form, as well as tables, charts, or images if applicable.
- Discussion and Conclusion:
- Interpretation and explanation of quantitative results and their implications, presentation of main findings, comparison with related research, practical suggestions, recommendations for future research, and study limitations (to be included without separate headings).
- If the manuscript is accepted for publication, the submission of an Abridged Paper is mandatory. The Abridged Paper, in English, should be between 1200 and 1500 words (excluding the word count of end references) and organized as follows:
- Title
- Introduction
- Materials and Methods
- Findings
- Discussion and Conclusion
- Declarations
- Keywords
- Footnotes (including Latin terms and additional explanations omitted from the main text) should be placed at the article's end before the references section.
- References should be formatted according to the American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines.
- Only sources cited in the text should appear in the reference list, and avoid listing minor or duplicate sources.
- Tables should be limited in number, include numbering, titles, descriptions, and sources, and be placed above the tables.
- Figures and charts should be limited, high-quality, include numbering, titles, descriptions, and sources, and be positioned above the figures or charts.
- The placement of tables, charts, and figures should be marked in the article margin.
- Avoid using non-Persian words with existing Persian equivalents. If a Persian equivalent is unavailable, the original term can be included in a footnote.
- The editorial board reserves the right to accept or reject submitted articles.
- Authors are responsible for the content and viewpoints presented in their articles.
- Once submitted, changes to author names or order are not permitted.
- Articles with scientific novelty that do not replicate an existing foreign or domestic model are given priority.
- The journal reserves the right to edit articles.
- A minimum of two suggested reviewers for the article review is mandatory.
